Participants from around the country are encouraged to share what they have learned with senior citizens in their home area following completion of the program.
Robinson said that to compete for selection, applicants must be at least 60 years old, a bona fide resident of the Seventh Congressional District, and in good physical condition. “I’d like to emphasize this internship is open to any older person, without regard to sex, color, political affiliation or any other consideration, but I may select only one participant from our entire Seventh District,” he added.
Those interested should send a letter outlining their background and interests by April 8th to Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson, do U.S. House of Representatives, Washington, D.C. 20515. Participants receive a small stipend to cover living expenses during their stay in Washington, and usually stay at the same downtown hotel near the White House.
Robinson has named a Senior Citizen Intern in each of the last seven years.
