INVITATION TO BIDDERS
Project is being re-bid due to Owner's failure to properly advertise. Sealed Proposals for Offices and Bus Garage for Rappahannock Public School System, Rappahannock, Virginia, will be received by the Owner at the Rappahannock County Elementary School Library, Routes 211 and 636, Rappahannock County, Virginia, until 7:30 p.m., March 8, 1983. The opening of the bids will be PUBLIC. Three (3) sets of Plans and Specifications may be obtained by Bidders from the office of Baughan & Baukhages, Architects, AIA, Cave and Zerkel Streets, Luray, Virginia, 22835 (telephone - 703-743-6493), upon deposit of cash or check made payable to Baughan & Baukhages, Architects, in the amount of $100.00 per set after 12:00 noon on February 15, 1983. The entire deposit will be refunded to each Bidder upon return of documents in good condition within ten (10) days after the opening of bids. Deposits of those other than actual Bidders will be refunded $50.00 per set upon return of documents in good condition within ten (10) days after the opening of bids. General Contractors only are classified as "Bidders”. No partial sets will be issued and all documents remain the property of the Architects. The project, in general, consists of a one-storey, pre-engineered metal building of approximately 4500 square feet on the ground. The project includes concrete slabon-grade and foundations, wood framed and masonry interior partitions, gypsum board and plywood paneling wall finish, suspended acoustical tile ceilings, resilient tile and carpeted floors, plumbing, mechanical and electrical work. The low bidder may withdraw a bid submitted in good faith, because of a clerical error discovered therein, by giving notice in writingto the Owner within two days of the opening of bids in accordance with Section 11-54 of the Virginia Public Procurement Act. Bids must be accompanied by a Certified Check or acceptable Bid Bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Base Bid, payable to the Owner. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Surety Bond for 100% of the Contract Price, guaranteeing the completion of the Contract and payment to all persons having direct contracts with him for Labor and Materials. Form of Performance Bond will be AIA Document A311, furnished by the Architects. No Bids may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of Bids for a period of thirty (30) days. Contractors and sub-contractors will be required to comply with Federal and State antidiscrimination laws.
Bidders are required under Title 54, Chapter 7, Code of Virginia to show evidence of Certificate of Registration before bid may be received and considered on a General or Subcontract of $60,000.00 or more. The Bidder shall place on the outside of the envelope containing his bid, and in his bid over his signature the following notation: “Registered Virginia Contractor No. .” The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, and to accept any proposal which he may deem to be to his best interest, and to waive any informalities in Bidding.
Bidders will be required to submit to the Architect a completed AIA Form A-305 "Contractors Qualifications Statement” as a prerequisite for submitting a bid. Questions and/or interpretations concerning ttje project shall be directed to the Architect. i
