With the opening of Creations in Washington, owners Frances Robinson and Becky Burke feel that they are addressing several longstanding needs of the Rappahannock Community. “First of all, we were tired of having to travel long distances to find Christian books and supplies,” Becky said. “We were sure that others felt the same way.” After waiting to see if anyone else would provide this service, they realized that it was their burden, Becky said: “The Lord let us know that it was our job.”
Another need the women saw was for an outlet for Rappahannock-made crafts. Frances had spent years making her hand-crocheted items for gifts and special orders. She knew of many others who would be glad for the extra income from craft sales at a local store.
With these two purposes in mind, the women met in Washington one day in late September to scout possible locations. When they found the office space in the old Post Office building, they knew that was their place.
“We had to move really fast,” Becky remembers. In a month’s time Becky and Frances got the office ready, built up their inventory, and
