When EQUUS was first brought to Broadway in 1974 it won critical acclaim and a Tony award. Some doubted the wisdom of the Source Theatre - a small community theater company in Washington, D.C. - taking on such an ambitious project. But courage is the mark of the Source Theatre.
Bart Whiteman founded Source in 1977. It is a maverick of the theater - tough, small, independent, gutsy. With tiny facilities but unbounded courage and dedication, the Source Theare is a university - teaching in every aspect of theater as it goes.
