with the “Most Valuable Player, 198485 J.V. Basketball Award.” His team made history in the county this year by becoming the first time champions for J.V. in their district.
The other two captains and outstanding players were Thomas “Reggie” Williams and Walter Frye, both of Sperryville. The entire team is to be congratulated on their great ability to play so well together. They glided up and down the court, passing the ball back and forth and slipping it into the net consistently with the gr ;st of ease.
The other two first string champion athletes were Devan Moore of Amissville and Butch Foster of Sperryville, both unbeatable guys. The second string on this team was unbelievable talented too. We just couldn’t lose with this kind of teamwork!!
The R.C.H.S. annual musical was held last weekend and was it fantastic!! “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” was directed and conducted by Mr. and Mrs. Don Bomberger and Ms. Kathy Hewitt and starred Julie Burke as Molly, the colorful, comical character of the old west. Julie carried her part off really well when at one hilarious point, she started losing her skirt. So well in fact, that the audience thought that it was part of the show. That was an evening of a million laughs.
Castleton had some fine actors and actresses in the play. They were Jon McCullough, who played Molly’s uninhibited, happy-go-lucky Father, Jim McCullough played the bartender and Gaby Ringleff, a refined lady of the upper crust. The play was one of Rappahannock’s most entertaining musical comedys ever presented.
Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Woodward are being visited by their oldest daughter, Darlene Conover and her husband, Clint for two weeks. They’re on their way to New Jersey from Alaska where Clint has been transferred with the telephone company. The Woodwards are sure happy to see them.
