Fletcher’s prescription for the proposed budget was to cut “at least” $250,000 to $300,000 from it. Regarding education, he stressed that everybody wants the best for the county’s children, but “we also want the continuation of the quality of life in Rappahannock County. ” Ron Frazier of Jackson District, arguing that boards in other counties increased teachers’ salaries without raising taxes, urged the supervisors to reduce the proposed budget. “There should be no hurry to adopt the budget,” Frazier said. “All agencies should have what they need, but not a penny more.”
