A pressing need for more space at the Rappahannock County Library is fueling a debate over whether to expand the existing building or to build a new library on a separate lot.
The option to build a library on a separate lot was made viable in May of 1984 when Byrd G. Jones, a resident of Washington, gave a plot of land to the Friends of the Rappahannock County Library, a volunteer group which looks after the interests of the library. The plot is on Gay Street and is the present site of Emily Fincham’s home.
