The only way to get around the need for a variance would be for O’Connell and Lynch to donate to the library the portion of their land that would come within 15 feet of the expansion. Jamieson has contacted both O’Connell and Lynch about this, and they are said to be considering the idea.

In an effort to find out whether the library could get a variance, Jamieson has met with each Town Council member to show them drawings of the proposed expansion. After talking with each council member, Jamieson said none was “averse to the idea” of grant
