Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. William (Ned) Settle on their 49th wedding anniversary Wednesday, July 17. The Settles were pleasantly surprised with a Happy Anniversary call from one of their granddaughters, Lisa Moulis of Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. John P. Moulis of Silver Spring, Md., were guests Saturday of Mrs. Moulis’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Settle and William and Jimmie Settle.
Mrs. William Wood of El Paso, Texas, was in the county visiting friends last week. We missed seeing you, William, and hope you both can return soon.
Comer Smith of Albany, Ga., has arrived at the home of his grandmother Mrs. Alie R. Wood for a week. His sister Angela has been a guest of her grandmother this summer. Comer and Angela spent a week as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reid at McLean.
Mr. and Mrs. Ned Settle entertained Thursday evening at a picnic for their grandson William’s 13th birthday. Guests were Mary Updike, Adam Clatterbuck, Keith Jenkins and Jimmie Settle.
Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Weakley enjoyed dinner at Brookside near Luray on Sunday evening.
Happy birthday wishes go to Mrs. Mary Updike, who celebrated her birthday last month.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Fairfax vacationed for five days recently at St. Simons, Ga. En route home they spent Saturday and Sunday with friends at Ocean Isle, N. C. They returned home on Monday.
Ryan Shipman was met Monday at Dulles Airport by his mother, Ilene Shipman and brother, Mark, as he returned home after a two-week visit with his aunt and uncle in Peoa, Utah. Ilene and the boys went on to Maryland and stayed until Wednesday with the other half of the family, John Shipman. Ryan celebrated his 8th birthday on July 14.
The community was saddened to hear of the death of Luther Payne, husband of Mrs. Rosie Payne.
Our deepest sympathy also to Mrs. Ruby Dwyer on the death of her husband, Sam Dwyer.
Mrs. Tom Perry says she is feeling better this week. I guess it was due to having her two grandsons with her last week to take good care of her and Mr. Perry. I am sure they enjoyed every minute with the youngsters from Fairfax. Having the grandchildren around always makes things better. Right?
Mrs. Sadie Foster has returned home after being a patient in Warren Memorial Hospital.
