Benefit Sale To Be Held A benefit sale for Philip Thomas Register will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, at Snead’s Farm Market beside the Rappahannock Farmers Coop, on Route 211, west of Washington. Anyone wishing to donate items should call Philip’s mother, Mrs. Helen Snead, at 987-8709 or Carolyn Pullen at 987-8091. Philip was injured in an automobile accident on March 31, 1985.
Sperryville Carnival Rescheduled Due to the rain, the Sperryville fireman have rescheduled their carnival for Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27. Five prizes of $100 and a Yamaha three-wheeler will be awarded on Saturday evening.
4Brother From Another Planet9 This unconventional and very funny science fiction spoof which deals with cultural alienation will be shown on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, at 7:30 at the Gay Street Theatre. A black, three-toed space creature, Joe Morton lands on Ellis Island and makes his way to Harlem where he is accepted as just another street person. His glowing finger lands him a job fixing video games, but two bounty hunters from space are closing in on him. John Sayles is the writer, director and costar. It’s rated PG and is 110 minutes long.
1980 Class Reunion Scheduled The Rappahannock County High School class of 1980 will hold its five year reunion July 27 at the home of Bryant Lee on 211 at Massie’s Comer. EVOC At Flint Hill The Emergency Vehicle Operators Course will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. and all day on Saturday and Sunday at the Flint Hill fire hall.
Burger Fest At Farm Show A burger fest, featuring pork, lamb and beef, along with all the fixings, cole slaw, cake, iced tea, lemonade or milk, will be held on Monday, July 29, from 4 to 6:30 at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises in connection with the annual Rappahannock-Culpeper-Madison farm show. The farm show is scheduled for July 25-29.
