The annual Flint Hill Carnival will run from Wednesday, July 31, to Saturday, August 3. Proceeds from the carnival will benefit the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
On Wednesday, which is family night, rides will be offered at a low price for all ages. The special price is good from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Carnival representatives urge kids from ages 1 to 85 to take advantage of the special rates on family night.
The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The newly crowned Miss Virginia, Kimberly Johnson, from Dungannon in Scott County, will lead the parade. The parade also will include high school bands, Shrine units, majorette groups, antique cars and many fire and rescue units.
Ronald McDonald, sponsored by McDonalds restaurants in Front Royal and Winchester, also will march in the parade.
The Virginia Department of. Highways and Transportation’s state fair exhibit will be featured in the fire house all four days of the carnival.
Prizes will be awarded on Saturday night. They include: a 1985 Chevette automobile, a registered Black Angus, two season tickets to the Washington Redskins regular season games, living room furniture, a fire chiefs car (ceramic decanter), and other items.
Every night there will be food, drinks, rides and games. Box suppers will be available Thursday at 5 p.m. on the carnival grounds.
Members of the Fire Department are expecting a big turnout for the carnival.
