Carnival Rescheduled

• Rabies Vaccination Clinic
All dog owners are reminded by Animal Warden Jack Bruce that a current Rabies Inoculation Certificate is required. A rabies vaccination clinic will be held at the Washington Fire House on Saturday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ’
Dr. P. M. Graves will administer three-year vaccinations for cats and dogs for $3.50, and tags for dogs will cost $5.
• Ruritans Seek Permit
The Planning Commission, during its regular meeting July 17, discussed a request for a special use permit from the Amissville Ruritan Club. The Ruritans want to build a clubhouse on their grounds in Amissville for the purpose of holding monthly Ruritan meetings, club functions and “community-oriented gatherings.”
The planners agreed to recommend approval of the permit request on two conditions: (1) that the Ruritan membership determine restrictions on the use of the building and (2) that the Ruritans bring their request into full compliance with technicalities in the zoning ordinance.
• School Board Special Meeting
The Rappahannock County School Board held a special session on Monday, July 22, to open insurance proposals and to discuss personnel matters. The insurance proposals for the entire insurance portfolio for the upcoming school year will be reviewed by the board.
The board approved the resignation of. Carol Atkins as a first grade teacher and the resignation of Kim Chesson as a kindergarten teacher as soon as a replacement can be found.
Lisa Gochenour was appointed as a first grade teacher and Kim Dixon was appointed to the position of TMR/EMR primary teacher.
The signing of state reports by Assistant Superintendent Tom Campbell in the absence of Superintendent Robert Estabrook was approved by the board.
