Baptist Home yard sale
The Virginia Baptist Home in Culpeper will have its Sixth Annual Crafts and Yard Sale on Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. No admittance will be allowed until 9 a.m.
Some items to be sold include: furniture, clothing, jewelry, irons, electric heaters, flame-retardant curtains, lamps, radios, televisions, sewing machines, luggage, electric fans, toasters, pictures, handmade crafts and baked goods.
Proceeds from the sale are designated for the renovation of the Culpeper residential buildings and health care center.
Lamb and Wool Day
The Piedmont Sheep Producers Association will hold their annual Virginia Lamb and Wool Day on Oct. 12 at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises, two miles south of Culpeper on Rt. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free to the public.
Special attractions will include an arts and crafts festival, sheep show, make it with wool contest, sheep shearing and sheep dog demonstrations, hayrides, doggers, square dancing, petting zoo, fleece to shawl demonstration with auctioning of completed shawls, lamb BBQ, etc. Crafts people and anyone wishing to participate should contact Pat or Laura Lawson, Lawson’s Deerfield Farm, Rt. 2, Box 88, Culpeper, 22701. Adult vocational classes
Piedmont Technical Education Center will again be opening during the day for adults interested in taking vocational classes. Courses offered include drafting, electronics, fashion and tailoring, industrial mechanics, machine shop, nurse assistants, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electricity, welding and office services for those having basic typing skills. While enrollment is limited, the center plans to serve as many in the community as possible.
A registration fee of $50 will be required of those who are accepted into the program. Most materials and the use of tools except for texts are provided free of cost. For additional information regarding fees and registration, please contact Malcolm Davis, guidance director, at 825-0476.
4-H club meeting
The Sperryville Community 4-H Club will meet on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Sperryville Fire Hall. All members and youngsters between the ages of nine and 19 are urged to attend. For additional information, call 987-8971.
