of France, has been named the new chairman of Wakefield’s French department. Mrs. Cummings grew up in Algeria and received her BA from the University of Algiers. Later, after moving with her American husband to Florida, she taught French for six years at the Palm Beach Day School and headed the Modem Language Department at St. Andrew’s School. For the past 18 years, Mrs. Cummings has taught French at the Powhatan School in Boyce. Mrs. Cummings lives in Berryville.
Also joining the Wakefield faculty as a French teacher is Miss Sally Minitree, of Orlean. A BA graduate of Sweet briar College, Miss Minitree sp^ht her junior year abroad studying French at the University of Montpelier in France. Her teaching experience includes two years as French instructor at the Highland School in Warrenton. At Wakefield, Miss Minitree will teach French to children in grades 1-6.
Mrs. Bonnie Williams has been appointed Wakefield’s new director of music. Having taught privately for the past 10 years, Mrs. Williams recently received her Bachelor’s Degree in music education from the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester. For the past two years, she has been student teaching at Wakefield and in Fauquier County public schools. Mrs. Williams is an active member of the Washington Baptist Church, where she has been the choir director and organist for the past eight years.
In welcoming Wakefield’s new faculty members, Dr. Lynn noted their high qualifications, years of teaching experience and dedication to the academic ideals of the school.
