School Supt. O.E. Norton
told the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors Saturday that the roof at the high school is in extremely bad condition and will have to be repaired at a cost of $3,000 for half the job and $5,800 for a complete job.
Much concern was voiced over such extensive repairs to the building which is only 11 years old.
Chairman J.N. Miller suggested the county write a letter to the state board of education concerning the roof, which was built to state specifications. Supt. Norton was instructed to get a second bid for the repair work.
The low number of calves consigned to the Rappahannock Angus Feeder Sale threatens the future of the sale, according to a report given this week by the president of the Rappahannock Angus Feeder Calf Association.
There are 420 veterans living in Rappahannock County and 540,000 in Virginia, according to Veteran Administration records released recently.
There are 190 World War II vets in the county, 60 from Vietnam, 80 from Korea, 50 from World War I and 50 who served between Korea and Vietnam.
