Arts, crafts
show at JMU
Artists and craftspeople from this part of Virginia will have thenwork on display Sept. 14 at the sixth annual Valley Day at James Madison University in Harrisonburg.
The festival highlights life in Virginia and a large display of arts and crafts is one of the major events of the day.
Persons wishing to show an exhibit may do so by contacting Mike Way or Toni Dull at the JMU Warren Campus Center at 568-6329. There is no fee for exhibitors.
Last year, some 60 exhibitors took part in the festival, held alongside the football field and Godwin Hall. Exhibitors may sell their wares during the show, which begins at 2 p.m. and remains open until the game begins.
In addition, demonstrations of other skills will be planned, skills including weaving, broom-making, working with old tools, chair-making and blacksmithing.
Valley Day is centered on a JMU-Morehead State football game which begins at 7 p.m. There is no admission charge to the event which will also include an antique car show, bluegrass music and folk dance demonstrations.
