Confederate kin
Ruth Ellen Patton Totten, the daughter of the celebrated World War II general, will address the Culpeper Historical Society Sunday on “General Patton and his Culpeper and Confederate Kin.”
The presentation is to be held at the Mitchells Presbyterian Church beginning at 2 p. m.
Mrs. Totten is expected to detail how her father studied great cavalry leaders of the Confederacy and how he derived this interest from his old Virginia family.
The public is invited.

Crafts show
deadline set
Craftsmen and artists are invited to submit their work for consideration in the Christmas Consignment Show and Sale at Oatlands Plantation near Leesburg.
The sale will run in conjunction with “Christmas at Oatlands,” an annual event set for Nov. 9 through Dec. 15.
The deadline for entry in the show is Wednesday.
The show and sale will be held in the carriage house.
Interested crafts and arts people are asked to submit an application, including a $5 application fee. Applications can be obtained by calling 777-3174 in Leesburg, or by writing to “Christmas at Oatlands,” Oatlands, Inc., Rt. 2, Box 352, Leesburg, 22075.
Applications must be accompanied by slides or a photo of the work or, preferably, an appointment can be made to have the work personally reviewed at Oatlands. In addition to the $5 application fee, a commission is charged on all work sold.
