Mr. and Mrs. George Willis Hawkins of Sperryvillt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 8 at a surprise picnic luncheon arranged by their children and their # spouses, Mrs. Judy Codding and Mr. Codding of Fairfax and Philip Hawkins and Mrs. Hawkins of Slate Mills. The party was held at the Hawkins’ home in Slate Mills with members of the family and a few friends attending. Mrs. Hawkins, the former Geneva Golden of Castleton, and Mr. Hawkins were married Sept. 11, 1935, at the Baptist parsonage in Flint Hill with the late Rev. P. Harris Chelf officiating.They have four grandchildren.
Mrs. Dennis Wingfield’s mother, Mrs. Catherine Taylor of Harrisonburg, entered Rockingham Memorial Hospital on Tuesday for surgery, Mrs. Wingfield will be making frequent trips to visit her.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Shade of Falls Church were guests Saturday of Mrs. Ruby Dwyer.
Bill Sisk has returned home from McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond.
Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Nethers were their granddaughters, Tracey Bolyard of Keyser, W. Va., and Belinda Bolyard of Richmond. Mrs. John Coates of Brightwood joined them on Sunday.
