Dr. Philippe Cognon will teach the senior Modem World Literature course and the AP French V class. A native of France, Dr. Cognon holds a MA in literature from Wadham College, Osford University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Paris. For over 20 years, he was lecturer in French literature at Trinity College, Dublin, where he was for a time the tutor of Wakefield’s headmaster. In
more recent years, Dr. Cognon has taught literature at Yale University and at Connecticut College. A familiar face at Wakefield, he has served for years as the educational consultant to Wakefield’s Board of Trustees. A writer, artist and concert pianist of distinction, Dr. Cognon lives in Flint Hill.
Mrs. Erin Duffy has been appointed to teach several English classes, including senior composition. Mrs. Duffy earned her BA from Geneva College in Pennsylvania, and her MA from Duquesne University where she subsequently taught freshman composition for five years.
Mr. Patrick Duffy has joined Wakefield’s expanding classics department where he will teach several courses in Latin and Greek. A native of Pittsburgh, Mr. Duffy was graduated from Duquesne University and earned his MA in classics from the University Of Pittsburgh while employed as a steel worker. For the past several ygg^.he has taught Latin in Pittsburgh parochial schools while completing his Ph.D. dissertation in Homeric Greek. Mr. and Mrs. Duffy and their three young daughters live in Flint Hill.
