changed to Forest Grove the following year. The Rev. James N. Dofflemeyer served Forest Grove as its first pastor. Thirteen men and twelve women made up the charter membership.
In 1887, a church building was constructed and dedicated. In 1907, the building was remodeled and enlarged. The first Sunday School at Forest Grove was organized in 1890. In 1959, the present Sunday School rooms were added to the church building. Since April of this year, Forest Grove has been holding worship services every Sunday. The Rev. Sidney E. Rodriguez of Culpeper is presently serving as pastor. He succeeded the Rev. A. C. Walker Jr., who retired as pastor of Forest Grove in 1985.
Revival services will be held at Forest Grove Baptist in Viewtown October 13-16 at 7:30 each evening. These services are part of Forest Grove’s celebration of its centennial anniversary.
The guest speaker for this year’s revival will be the Rev. Phillip Walker, associate pastor of the Capitol Hill Metropolitan Baptist Church of Washington D.C. Rev. Phillip Walker is the son of the Rev. A.C. Walker Jr. of Culpeper, who served as pastor of Forest Grove from 19421944 and again from 1975-1985. He. and his wife have four sons. The public is invited.
