The 30th annual Rappahannock House Tour and Dried Flower Sale, the popular event held on the third weekend of October since 1956, will be held from 11 a. m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 18, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 19.

The last home to be shown on this year’s tour will be that of Eino and Celine Siira, approximately 5.7 miles west of Washington on Rt. 612 in Old Hollow. This contemporary rambler was built in 1980 with the Siiras doing much of the work themselves.

The entry, beyond two large doors, is brightened by a skylight in a chase lined in blond oak. Immediately in front of the entry hall is a formal living room, with three bedrooms off to the right. Although there is a large recreation room on the lower floor this house plan is unique in that the “living” part of the house is centered around a sitting area, with a large diagonal fireplace and opening directly on the end of the house-wide eat-in kitchen.
