Extension Club to meet
The Flint Hill Extension Homemakers Club will meet Tuesday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Elsie and Margaret Dodson.
Biological farming conference
The Virginia Association of Biological Farmers will sponsor a conference entitled “Bio-Dynamics: Culture and Agriculture” beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 18, at the Rappahannock Elementary School near Washington.
DAR meets Oct. 14
Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, National Society Daughters of American Revolution, will meet at the Culpeper Holiday Inn at noon October 14. Col. Leland Holland of Vint Hill Farms Station will be the speaker for the National Defense luncheon. .
RAAC artists’ forum seminars
Bookkeeping for artists - help! How to know if you’re making money. A seminar in basic business practices for self employed artists and craftspeople will be presented October 24 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Blackwater Homestead by Nol Putnam and Claudia McCue from the White Oak Forge Ltd. They will discuss how to deal with government forms, keep books for taxes, monitor your business and handle other paperwork. A potluck supper will be served. Fund-raiser party
The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee will fiold its fall fund-raising cocktail party Saturday, October 25, 5-8 p.m. at the home of Diana and Lee Bird, Horseshoe Hollow, Fodderstack Rd., Washington. 4The Great Gatsby’ at Library
Dr. Joel Foreman, professor of English at George Mason University, will lecture on and lead a discussion of Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby at the Rappahannock County Library, Monday, October 13, at 7:30 p.m. Christopher Bird will read from the novel.
This, the fourth in the Library’s series of five book discussions on Novels of Twenties, is funded in part by a grant from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy and is free and open to the public.
