But a landfill, he added, will cost around $250,000.
If Rappahannock must have its own landfill, “keep it short term, as short term as you can. Then when the time comes that you can get the trash out of the county, bite the bullet and raise taxes,” Mr. Price advised.
“I don’t think the need for a landfill will disappear with advancing technology,” countered Mr. McCarthy, adding that, at the very least, ash from the resource recovery facility would have to be disposed of in a dump.
