A letter of Commendation

honoring him for his high performance on the 1971 National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) has been awarded a student at Rappahannock County High School. Principal Dennis B. Wingfield has announced. The student was William I. Kilby, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. R. Kilby of Sperryville.

Mrs. James P. Jamieson of Sperryville, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Rappahannock County Library and Mrs. B. M. Miller of Washington, Treasurer, attended a Conference on Public Library Service, called by Governor Linwood Holton which was held Monday at the Richmond Colisseum.

The fall group meeting of the Sue Slaughter W.M.U. of the Shiloh Baptist Association will be held at the Chester Gap Baptist Church Thursday, October 7, at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be a missionary from Peru.

A Bicentennial Costume Ball

will be held at the old Washington School on Friday night, November 12, from 9 to 1. “Dress in a costume representative of any period during these two hundred years,” said Mrs. Virginia Miller, “and join us for a festive evening.”

When the voter registration books closed Saturday, the last day on which to register before the November election, the total number of eligible voters in Rappahannock County was 2512.
