Mr. Foster, now 74, also brings his Bible and a hymn book to the tutoring sessions and is now able to read the Bible verses and hymns he memorized so long ago.
Mr. Foster has learned to sign his own checks and looks forward to the day when he can write letters to each of his six children, now living throughout the Northern Virginia area.
