Benefit auction March 19
A public auction sponsored by Amissville Volunteer Fire Department is scheduled for Saturday, March 19, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the fire house. Food will also be for sale.
A vast array of items has been collected for the sale and more are wanted. Anyone having saleable articles which they would like to donate should call any member of the fire department.
Auctioneers will be Bill Payne of Amissville and Tom Reese of Culpeper.

The movie The Decline of the American Umpire will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6, at 7:30 each evening. Winner of the N.Y. Critics Award for Best Foreign Film of 1986, this is an erotic comedy about love and sex. Eight French Canandian intellectuals gather at a lakefront cottage in Quebec for the weekend. You will be fascinated by this provocative comedy of manners. The movie is rated R. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

Selected works by Gallery artists will be on view at Middle Street Gallery until March 18 when the 7th Congressional District’s High School Art Competition will be shown along with paintings and sculptures by Rappahannock High School and Wakefield students.
Arpong those currently showing are Purnell, Drevas, Hoyer, Mahan, Lewis, Kerig, Griffin and Marshall. Marshall's collage, “Fathers of Fate," which has been the subject of recent letters to the editor in the Rappahannock Seu s, will be up through the middle of March.
