Rappahannock's residents have dared to care — and its roadsides reflect the concern.
Up and down the county’s roads, travelers will notice the blue highway signs noting their adoption by various organizations. The adoption means someone cares — someone cares enough to keep it tidy.
In the spring of 1988, the Virginia Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Virginia Division of Litter Control and Recycling and Keep Virginia Beautiful Inc., asked Virginians to "dare to care” with the adopt-a-highway program.
