“Fall is suppose to present a chill in the air,” Mr. Wingfield said, adding that his figures show no killing frost in the area to date. Higher or lower areas may have experienced heavier frost damage but in general, the county has not registered a frost.
“We have tomatoes and green peppers,” Mr. Wingfield said, adding that this year temperatures register a total of five degrees warmer than usual for this time of year .
The state climatologist’s office agrees, with their records showing temperatures above average all across the state. “It’s hard to predict the weather," Mr. . Knappenberger said, adding that their extended forecast for October through December shows temperatures to reflect present degrees, slightly above normal, with precipitation levels mixed. “There is nothing definite,” he added. “An early snow could be probable since weather conditions continue to be w et but no one would really be able to say.”
