Apology due

To the editor:

I think the Board of Supervisors and the landfill operator should extend an apology to the residents of Scrabble for calling us “a bunch of pigs.” These words appeared on the front page of the Oct. 19 issue of the widely circulated Rappahannock News. To my knowledge, I have never met any of these members of the Board of Supervisors or the landfill operator, who talk so equolently about the residents of Scrabble as “a bunch of pigs.” The people of Scrabble do not make the mess at the Scrabble dump. It is made by many people who pass through the area from out of the county and also out of the state. These untidy people, who are usually in a big hurry, recognize that the dump is not on an impressive four-lane highway like U.S. 211 and since it is seldom policed, find it real easy and convex nient to unload their old broken down appliances and other forbidden

I respectfully request your readers to please consider one important fact when they vote for the next Governor of Virginia on Nov. 7.

The Governor of Virginia appoints over 4,000 persons to various boards, commissions and agencies.
