Some private firms still try to exploit people by charging for services which the Social Security Adminis-' tration (SSA) offers for free, said' Bruce A. Hundley, Social Security manager in Culpeper.

One of Social Security’s services, “Personalized Earnings "and Benefit Estimate Statements,” provides an individual’s detailed earnings history and estimates of future bene- ' | fits. A private firm charges $7 to obtain the identical information which Social Security provides for free, Mr. Hundley said.

To obtain an earnings statement, a replacement Social Security card, or for any other Social Seeuritv business, call 1-800-234-5772. The Culpeper Social Security office is located at 806 North Main Street. The office is open 9 a.m. to 4:3Qp.m., Monday through Friday.
