The new center, located on the southern side of the campus, will house the library, a learning-assistance center and a teleconferencing center that will seat 100. The additional space will allow’ the library to increase from 30,000 to 50,000 volumes. The present library, housed in the main building, will become much-needed classroom and office space.
LFCC, recently named as one of the country’s outstanding community colleges in the best-colleges issue of “U.S. News and World Report” (October 16, 1989), needs the expansion as it begins its 20th year of service to the area with a dramatic increase in enrollment. Over 2,700 students are attending the college this fall of ’89, with 703 of them attending full-time.
