The past few days of warm weather may just be a calm before the usual cold of winter returns.
According to State Climatologist Patrick Michaels in Charlottesville, records covering the 10 coldest winters during the past century indicate that colder-thannormal December temperatures are followed by Januarys and Februarys with colder than normal temperatures also.
December 1989 may be the coldest on record, after all is said and done. But it may be a mere foreshadowing of what is to come. Dr. Michaels said.
