It is not a question of whether a Congressman deserves to make more than $100,000 a year; it is a question of what is'ftecally possible. Our teachers certainly deserve to earn more than salaries beginning in the teens.

I contacted our representative, Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. (R-7th), regarding the Ethics bill, and I am happy to report that he voted “No.” He stated that he does not accept honoraria and that he felt the raise was inappropriate at this time, “. . . in view of the generally poor financial condition of the Federal Government caused in part, at least, by the Congress.”

I think we are fortunate to have a representative who is concerned with how our hard-earned tax (Job lars are spent.
