The Culpeper office of the Virginia Employment Commission will be assisting the Virginia State Police in a special recruitment effort for sta£e troopers, starting at 9:30 a m., Wednesday, Jan. 10. Virginia State Trooper M.D. Duncan will be recruiting at the V.E.C. on 110 W. Cameron Street.

A state-trooper candidate must be at least 21 years old; be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D.; and meet certain physical standards, including having 20/40 uncorrected eyesight with no color deficiency, passing a physical agility test, and generally being in good physical condition. A written examination and a thorough background investigation, inluding a polygraph, are required prior to employment.

Successful state-trooper candidates must be willing to accept an assignment anywhere in Virginia. The starting salary for a state trooper is $19,817, except in Northern Afirginia, where it is $23,780. The Virginia State Police Department is an equal opportunity employer.
