Cabbage is one vegetable that is available fresh year-round and usually at reasonable prices.
History
There are legends regarding the origin of cabbage. Historians have reported it growing in the eastern Mediterranean and areas of Asia Minor. Several varieties of cabbage were known as far back as the early days of Greece. In fact, from these original strains stem several of our present vegetables — brussel sprouts, cauliflower and kohlrabi.
