Bawkey family reunion

A Bawkey family reunion for the relatives of the late William Claude Bawkey and Fannie Cobb Bawkey will be held on Sunday, May 27 at the Rappahannock Park Route 211 in Washington, starting at noon. All family members and friends are invited to attend, and are asked to bring a covered dish.

Horse show at Old Mill

AyloFs riding school horse show will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 9 a.m. at Old Mill Stables, Woodville. No schooling. For more information call 987-8215.

Parent support group

A new parent support group for mothers and/or fathers with babies up to 18 months old will meet in June. The group will be designed to meet the needs of the parents and will meet June 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 10 a.m. until noon in Flint Hill. There will be a $20 fee. Animal Welfare to meet

'Babette's Feast' at Theater

The movie Babette’s Feast will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. each day. Toward the end of the 19th century, 2 elderly spinsters, daughters of a Lutheran minister, live in utter simplicity in a fishing village. They employ a French maid, Babette, who helps them perform their Christian duties.. .mainly bringing unspeakable food to the town’s old men. On the 100th birthday of the long-dead minister, Babette is allowed to prepare a French meal. What she serves is a staggering display of refinement and art. The sisters, afraid to admit to sensual pleasures, admit nothing. Spiritually renewed, they become better Christians; and Babette is fulfilled in her art without a single word of praise. The movie is rated G.
