Wakefield
a winner
in Latin exam
A number of local students at Wakefield School in Huntly have been named as winners in the National Latin Exam, administered earlier this spring.
The local students and their awards are as follows:
Twenty-one Wakefield sixthgraders took the Introduction to Latin exam, and 11 received awards. A special certificate was awarded to Lorraine Barrett, and outstanding special certificates were awarded to Welby Lynn and Corey Noll, who also received ribbons.
Melissa Manuel received the cum laude honor in the Latin II exam.
In the Latin III prose examination, Stephanie Tourenden received the magna cum laude award.
Amy Longyear was awarded a silver medal and a maxima cum laude award in the Latin IV poetry exam. Samara Sargent received a magna cum laude award, and Alison Martin received a cum laude award.
The results, a school spokesman said, “is excellent recognition for both the ambitious classics curriculum at Wakefield and the hard work of the individual students.”
