The Babe Ruth teams got their season underway with an opening win by the Blue Jays, sponsored by Maw and Paw Country Store, taking a 17-1 victory over the K&W Landscaping Mets. The victory was sparked by the superb pitching of Matthew Ketchem, who threw 14 strikeouts for the Blue Jays in five innings - a near-perfect streak.

On Friday at the Ronnie Pullen Memorial Stadium at Horseshoe Hills, the Yankees flexed their offensive muscle against the Astros of the Eastern Division, beating the visitors 21-3.
