Lord Fairfax Community College will hit the road next fall with its new Mobile Computer Classroom, bringing training opportunities to every small town and rural hollow in its seven-county service area.
The ambitious outreach program, undertaken last year by the LFCC Foundation, will bring computer training wherever it is needed, according to Foundation Chairwoman Patricia Saltonstall. “This is a tremendous resource for rural counties,” she said of the 36foot long van, which has 14 fullyequipped computer stations. It will be staffed by LFCC’s top computer trainers, she added.
The van is available to any business or organization in the area, Mrs. Saltonstall said. “It might be a work site, a rural volunteer fire department or rescue squad, a church
