Rising ninth-grader Joey Dunagan is putting Rappahannock County High School on the map.
Among students in the sixth through eighth grades, Joey is the nation’s best in architectural Computer-Aided Drafting, Level I. The honor was bestowed on him at the national Technology Students of America conference, held June 19-24 in Corpus Christi, Texas; a meeting which drew more than 1,800 students from 48 states.
Besides two large trophies, Joey won computer software programs for himself, the high school and his instructors, Scott Currie and Ron Vickers. Mr. Vickers estimated that the retail value of the software won by Dunagan this year in various competitions might be as much as $10,000 to $12,000.
Dunagan was joined at the national convention by five other Rappahannock students, senior Elizabeth Oliver, junior Jeremy Tole, sophomore Bryan Clark and eighth graders Philip Smiley and Tucker Rogers.
