The surveyors may take photographs of the residences to document the need for repairs or rehabilitation.
Mr. McCarthy stressed that all responses to the surveys are confidential, and there is no obligation for anyone to participate in the program.
Actual rehabilitation through the program will be dependent on the county applying for and receiving grant funds next year, he said. Eligible residents will be contacted later about actually participating in the program.
The rehabilitation grants, Mr. McCarthy said, are available to both owner-occupied and rental housing.
“Your responses wil determine whether a housing rehabilitation program is needed in the county,” Mr. McCarthy said. “Information you provide may be used to request funds from the state to help pay for housing repairs. Please cooperate with survey workers that you may see in your neighborhood or who know on your door and request an interview.”
