Real Estate© Eileen M. Day REALTOR DO YOU NEED A LAWYER? Whether you are buying or selling real estate, it's in your best interest to have your own attorey. Legal advice is like insurance—you never know whether you'll need it until it's too late. Real estate trans actions can be full of pitfalls. Belter to be guided around one than to fall in—especially when the stakes are so high. If you do decide to have your own lawyer, select the proper one. Lawyers, like doc tors, specialize, so consult an attorney who is experienced in real estate, not one who spe cializes in divorces. Its always appropriate to discuss fees in advance. Extra charges may lx* acceptable if an unforeseen snag arises, but a lawyer should be able to estimate the fee for your transaction. The proper time to consult an attqrney is BEFORE you sign a contract for sale. If you take an executed contract to a lawyer, there's little he can do but tell you where you may have gone wrong. Paying for hindsight is something you don't need. If there is anything we can do to help you in the field of real estate please stop in at EILEEN M.
