Business Council to meet
The SperryviUe Business Council will meet on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Oldway Craft Village. Final plans for the Apple Harvest festival planned for Oct. 6-8 will be discussed. All members are urged to attend.
Block party in Washington
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad will sponsor a community block party on Saturday, Sept. 29. The dance, featuring the New Riders, will be held in front of the courthouse on Gay St. from 8 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $3, and food, wine and beer will be available. All proceeds will benefit the Washington VFD.
Wharton family reunion
The family reunion of the late Henry Taylor and Lillie Margaret Cloud Wharton will be held at the Rappahannock Park on Sept. 8. Family and friends are welcome to come and bring a picnic lunch. “Lots of fun for all,” said a family organizer.
Bingo at Castleton
Castleton Volunteer Fire and Rescue companies will be reopening bingo activities on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. Opening night will include special games and prizes. Regular bingo will be held every Saturday night thereafter with a jackpot of up to $500.
Horse show at Old Mill
There will be a schooling horse show at Old Mill Stables on Saturday, Sept. 15 beginning at 9 a.m. For more information call Moody Aylor at 987-8215.
Class of 1980 reunion
The Rappahannock County High School class of 1980 will be having their 10 year reunion on Saturday, Oct. 6. A barbeque is planned at the Rappahannock Park.
