Circus Day at Flint Hill
Thursday, Sept. 20, will be “Circus Day” in Flint Hill with special arrangements being handled by Robert Brothers Circus. Proceeds from the advance ticket sales will be used for the ongoing expenses of the fire department. The event will include clowns, animals, live music, and fun for everyone. A community wide sale will be sponsored prior to “Circus Day.”
Ruritans plan auction
The Amissville Ruritans Club will host an auction on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. at the Stuart Field. To donate items call 937-4633, 937-4315, 937-4033 or 937-4072.
Sperryville plans fall carnival
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will have a fall carnival Oct. 4-7. Rides will be provided by West Virginia Amusement Company. The department plans to host a Saturday and Sunday matinee. A band has been scheduled for Thursday night and other activities will be announced at a later date.
Bailey reunion
The Bailey family reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Salem fire hall on Rt. 522 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. All are invited.
'The Hunt for Red October'
The movie The Hunt for Red October will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. When a Russian nuclear submarine, headed by Lithuanian sea captain Sean Connery, breaks through American sonar detection systems and heads for the eastern seaboard, CIA analyst Alec Baldwin is convinced there’s more to this than a first strike. The movie is rated PG.
RAA community meeting
The Rappahannock Athletic Association Little League has set the general community meeting for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Rappahannock County High School. A1 Kellert, president of the RAA, said that although the focus of the meeting is the election of the 1991 officers, there also will be brief reports on the status of the League’s financial position as well as the structure of the 1991 board. All coaches and board members should attend as well as those interested in coaching next year. All other interested persons are cordially invited to attend.
