Bom in England, Gerald Hawkins now lives near Woodville. He holds two doctorates from Manchester University. He was a staff member of the Harvard-Smithsonian Observatories for 18 years, professor and chairman of the Department of Astronomy at Boston University and served as Science Adviser to the U.S. Information Agency.
He is the author of 10 books, including Stonehenge Decoded, which led to the new field of archaeoastronmy which studies ancient cultures and their knowledge of astronomy.
