Health Dept offers flu shots
Vaccinations to protect against the three strains of influenza predicted to cause illness this winter will be given by the Rappahannock County Health Department on Wednesday, Oct. 24 during a “walk-in” clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Individual appointments are also available if theclinic time is inconvenient. Public Health Nurse Marion Facchina recommends the following people particularly consider being vaccinated against the flu: patients with chronic heart, lung or kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, cystic fibrosis or severe asthma. Children in day care facilities, anyone over 65 years of age, health care providers (doctors, nurses, rescue squad members) and others who work with the public (school teachers) should also consider immunization. There is a $5.50 charge for the shots, which are covered by Medicare and Medicaid. For more information about the vaccination, call the county health department (6753516).
