We are asking the audience to dressup,” Mrs. Hostetter said, again emphasizing the importance of the radio audience before sound stages and tapes. “We want the audience to wear things of the eras,” she said, adding anything from flappers to Joan Crawford look-alikes are possiblities. “There may even be a prize for the best costume,” she added, saying with Halloween so near, having the audience wear costumes seems even more appropriate.
Keeping with the community aspect, the president said proceeds from this production will benefit the theater itself. “We want to restore the stage and lighting,” she said.
Tickets for the production are $7 per person and can be purchased at several locations in Rappahannock and surrounding counties. “We encourage people to come on Friday night,” Mrs. Hostetter said, adding often people wait until Saturday and the show sells out.
This is the 10th year for the Rappahannock Players. Other productions include several one-act plays, locally written productions and Broadway productions including “The Lion in Winter,” “Peter Pan,” “Harvey,” “Wait Until Dark,” and others.
