Ms Terry replied that now there is no draft and no discrimination.
Mitch Terry asked if it was legal to search student lockers.
Ms Terry said she didn’t want to try to give a legal opinion without doing research, but she said the “courts and legislatures continue to struggle to balance the rights of individuals and the responsibility of the schools to provide a drug free environment.”
Matt Eidson asked if it was legal to make students pay for stickers to park cars when education is supposed to be free.
Ms Terry pointed out that the school system doesn’t have to provide for cars at all and that driving is a privilege. “Education is free, but you buy lunch, you buy or rent textbooks, you buy your yearbook.”
Alice Reeve asked how she felt about possibly being the first woman governor of Virginia.
