“I am the only member of the Virginia delegation to serve on the environment committee,” Warner said, “I’m there to work to try to improve the environment.”
Throughout his tenure as senator, Warner has been an advocate of senior citizens, stressing his commitment to long-term health care and more equitable prescription drug prices.
Warner currently serves on the Environment and Public Works Committee, Armed Services Committee, Select Committee on Intelligence, Select Committee on Aging and the Rules and Administration Committee.
This election represents the first time Warner has run for Senate unopposed. Warner captured 70 percent of the votes in the 1984 to overwhelmingly defeated Edythe Harrison, a former state delegate from Norfolk.
Commenting on his lack of opposition this election year, Warner said, “I may have done a good job for the past 12 years. ”
