For those voters who care about our rapidly deteriorating environment the following should provide compelling reason to get French Slaughter out of Congress.

In 1989 Congressman Slaughter voted against stronger federal protection of the last large stands of uncut rainforest in North America. A heavily subsidized Forest Service timber program now threatens this spectacular old-growth forest, in Alaska’s Tongass National Forest.

Again last year, not long after the Exxon Valdey spill, Rep. Slaughter voted against state’s rights to have stronger oil spill legislation than the current federal standard. Rep. Slaughter also voted in favor of an amendment that will result in oil and oil shipping companies being able to use less care in the production and shipping of oil and still
